(Hershey, Pa. January 2014) — Each fall the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions (IAAPA) hosts an annual industry convention at which member properties are recognized for excellence in a variety of categories.

Last month at IAAPA’s annual convention in Orlando, FL, Hersheypark was recognized for Excellence in Live Entertainment.

Winning Best Atmosphere/Street Show Performance Act was “Cocoa Rhythm Factory,” and winning “Best Live “Edutainment Show” was “The Ed-ZOO-cation Team.” Both shows were produced by Mike Windish of Windish Music and Productions of West Chester, PA.

“To be recognized by our peers from around the world for excellence in live entertainment is quite an honor,” said Cindy Altland, Director of Entertainment and Special Events at Hersheypark. “Mike Windish is a former Hersheypark performer so this award is especially sweet for us.”

Windish began his Hersheypark career in 2003 as a performer in the Country Grill show, eventually becoming show captain. He then served as an Entertainment Department Intern and Supervisor and was responsible for casting and directing the Park’s Halloween shows and the Chocolate-Covered February Band.

When Windish formed his own company, his partnership with the Park continued, and the collaboration has resulted in a number of successful Hersheypark performance groups and shows.

“I am so proud of the directors and performers in Cocoa Rhythm Factory and the Ed-ZOO-cation Team,” said Windish. “It’s a privilege to work with such talented and dedicated people and to share these awards with them.”

In 2013, Windish Music & Productions was responsible for 14 different entertainment offerings at Hersheypark and, in addition, provides entertainment for other parks such as Canobie Lake Park, NH and Morey’s Piers, Wildwood NJ.

Founded in 1918, IAAPA represents more than 4,000 facility, supplier and individual members from more than 90 countries, including most amusement parks and attractions in the United States. The largest international trade association for permanently situated amusement facilities worldwide, IAAPA strives to help members improve their efficiency, marketing, safety and profitability while maintaining the highest possible professional standards in the industry.
